Dear ...

Dear Boy,

Life has taught me to wait,
Because slowly, things catch on.
And if they don't, you'll forget.

I believe that it's better
when waiting makes you forget;
Because,
When they finally...

When they finally learn
to sing the same song
you had once sung;
When they finally decide
to see the things
you had once shown;
When they finally
take to the road
that you had once discovered,
You will find that they are not with you,
but without you,
much further ahead,
and yet still behind in their senses.

And the feeling of loneliness will eat you whole.
And the anger that comes will seethe you dry.
But nothing will fill the emptiness of your soul.
Because you haven't forgotten.

Never do they heed your words,
Or read your actions,
Or see you as a guide -
But they've caught on,
and have moved forward.

Boy,

There is no use in waiting for them,
Because now
there is me!
I am waiting for you.
Waiting for you to wait on what's to come,
and not on what has left you behind...

My can of spraypaint emptied out while I was trying to do some graffiti on the roof. Then I decided to take random pictures. Not for practice, not for art - no purpose at all. I did end up capturing little patterns and and shapes that I thought would give me more insight on designing in the future, and simply things that might look interesting even though we don't take much notice of them.

Humayun Ahmed

This took me several hours to do. It is a trace from an original photograph. I haven't found a proper digital art of Humayun Ahmed on the net yet. Not even on deviant art. Anyways, this was made for the UNAB e-magazine to be published sometime in August. However, I couldn't wait to showcase it. It's better that I disperse it while people still care that the writer isn't present anymore.

I decided to propagate it from the doodlebird page as a facebook banner.

Twitter background

A really mediocre design I made as a twitter wallpaper. Should have done something better. Maybe later. Please DO NOT FEEL FREE TO USE IT, because it really bugs me when something that has my face on it is used by others.

Stop motion tests

I have a plan to shoot two music videos for my band soon. With hardly ever any money in hand, and considering the nature of Orfred, I figured it's better to do them in stop motion. But stop motion isn't just a piece of cake. It's much more tedious than a normal video shoot, and can sometimes be really rigorous. So, whenever I get the time, I carry out small tests in order to get ideas and get used to the technique.

Here are a couple of my tests.

Orfred - Picture Perfect [demo]

There's still a LOT to be done on this. But the sound quality came out close to pristine. I'm wondering what the final version could sound like. The vocal was recorded with the same tk. 200/250 microphones I always use. Once again, Rakat was on recording and mixing.

Snapshots of today and the last few days

The last few days and today have been really hectic. I didn't get much time for myself. With my cousin's engagement and a lot of errands and random calls to meet up in the way, I wasn't able to spend too much time at home.

On Wednesday, I spent the whole day with Rushnaf bhai going to Goethe Institute in Dhanmondi. We started chatting there, and then went to the lakeside, and later to Sobahanbagh to buy a panjabi for the next day's event, and then to IBA hostel, where we met up with Mushfiq bhai.

The next day, make up classes at NSU totally took away most of my energy. I had to go to Regency Hotel for my cousin's engagement ceremony directly from university without even being able to freshen up.

Yesterday, I had to pay Rashik a visit. He's a friend who studies in Australia and came to Bangladesh during his summer break. He really wanted me to draw a graffiti for him, so I spent my whole afternoon at his house coming up with the idea and outlining the graffiti.

On the way to Rashik's place. Took the bus, which hardly had
any passengers, as it was a friday.

And today, I had to go to Puran Dhaka to meet up with Nawed bhai to plan for an event. I later ended up seeing the city with a long time resident and architect, Augustine bhai.

NSUPC designs: Timeline - 15 years of NSUPC brochure

NSUPC celebrated 15 years, and once again I was responsible for designing the brochure for the event - TIMELINE: 15 Glorious Years of NSUPC. With time, everything gradually changes; and a lot of this change can be traced back from the past to the present through newspapers. So relating TIME to a NEWSPAPER theme, I was able to try out a very different design this time.
