Bunny story

Some illustrations I made for a short story that a friend of mine has written. Good practice. Not where I want to be really.

finished, 4.58 am; August 15, 2013 - Karma

Perhaps when life has
No choice but to freeze
Like a statue -

When it is faced
To face a long,
Troublesome wall -

You'll realize that
The people you helped atop
Aren't quite there anymore,

And that you've left behind
The ones who've always
Stood behind you.

As to why you are alone,

You'll know by the
Air in-between
Your clenched fists,

The simplest answers
are the hardest
to grasp.

When there is no
Path ahead,
Going back,
Is the only Path.

Sample Eid Greeting design for NSUPC

I spent the first day of my Eid holiday in front of the computer, designing for office. Then, I decided to design something for NSUPC. Thought of putting this up, but then it seemed more fair to give the juniors a chance to design now. But I enjoyed creating this.

Boats

Fumbling all my words
Mutter curses at myself
Yelling when I'm mad
Saying sorry like it's true

Floating on thin air
Swiming after dreams
Stroking swiftly as I may
Chasing boats like I do

These boats, they always sail
Away from me
To let me know
That I have failed, That I have failed

So you wanna leave
Gritted rabbit teeth
Protruding eyes that leer
I wanna fall asleep

Keep on dreaming bliss
Bliss lies under a tree
Up on a yellow hill
That looks out to the sea

But there are boats that always sail
Away from me
To let me know
That I have failed, That I have failed

Know this now, know this well
I'd sail into the sea, if I wasn't tied to your harbor

Midway

There we were having a cup of tea
Years away from when we'd meet
And I said with frustration,
"We were onto something,
And now we've got nothing"

A thousand thoughts altogether
Makes us all the more each other
One another, we're all brothers

I started smoking first
And then you caught on
And now I wanna let it go
I wanna let you know
So please don't get me wrong

There we were having a smoke
Years away from when we hadn't
And I said with despise,
"Look, we've caught onto something,
Yet we've still got nothing"

A thousand thoughts altogether
Makes us all the more eachother
One another, we're all brothers

And then you said,"No.
Nothing's worth more than something
When you've got nothing more"

Changing Homes, title track

Changing Homes, the third song from my side project, Changing Homes, is the [obviously] the self titled track, which metaphorically describes the concept of the title itself.

This track had significant contribution from all three members of the project, and was created in a matter of hours of tweaking with melodies and sounds.

Changing Homes:

Curtains swell to let the wind in
Shake my feet, I fall back
Rain comes pouring onto summer
Fills my eyes, I start to cry
The sound of pages, flipping on the wall
As if time wants me to move.
But your hands hold me down.
Houses in the sky
Floating like the clouds
I'd give anything to fly
I pull myself out
I reach out for the clouds
There's a tree root coming down
Grab it and it lifts me,
Off the ground.
I'm changing,
I'm changing homes now.

A year older

Time just doesn't slow down. At this pace, I fear that I will fall flat on the ground soon with the realization that I haven't done much in life. It's another birthday, and half of 2013 is over. Life's been good so far. Ups and downs, twists and turns... but even at this stage/age, I don't know where I am going.

Well whatever the path ahead may bring, I'd like to take some time out to appreciate myself (something I don't do often). I'd like to wish myself a Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday doodlebird.

I'll try update this blog more often. However, with office and studies - the latter, not progressing at all - it's very hard to find some time to do anything "artistic". But I'll try.

Changing Homes.

I've posted a Changing Homes' track before on the blog. This is the latest track Ogni, which was directed by me and composed and produced by both Rakat and me. Raj wanted to contribute but hadn't found the time to do so, and the track had been lying idle for quite some time for which reason I asked Rakat to re-mix and master it, and release it.

A friend of Raj and a new fan drew us a cover photo based on my rough artwork for Changing Homes. It turned out amazing. I'm happy with the way this project is going. It's getting a lot of response and we did not intend for that when we started making the music. Or at least I didn't.

Wishes

Not a fully satisfying project. I wanted to go very minimal with this, yet the Bengali taste for cursive fonts and over-colored designs won over my idea. I did what the client asked. The logo does grab attention, I must say.

Drawing practice.

Calvin and Hobbes is so easy and fun to draw.
On the other hand, I haven't even touched work on the Book of Blunder.

New DOODLEBIRD ART logo

The old Doodlebird Art logo wasn't well thought out and I'll admit I didn't put much time into the old one.

Anyways, I'd been pondering on a new logo for myself, and it wasn't until last night that I finally came up with something different. I'm not fully satisfied with it. But I think this will get the job done.

Old Artwork

A blast from the past. I was a huge anime and comics fan. I loved drawing, and I would draw favorite characters from cartoons, video games and comic books. These were some of the drawings I kept with me throughout the years, though I lost a lot of others. I think I used to draw much better back then, than I do now.

NSUPC creative cell banner designs.

Just playing around with colors, shades and images. I actually learned a thing or two from such a simple work. These are still imperfect. I didn't feel like correcting the mistakes.
