Photographs: December 22, 2012.

Yesterday's sunlight was ominously hidden beneath Winter's fog. It seemed the Mayan's had calculated wrong the date the world would end. It was one day after. A sleep deprived me, on the chilliest winter morning Dhaka has seen as of yet, looked up and thought how tiny the sun had gotten, and yet how majestic it glowed despite that.

The day revolved around walking mostly. I walked, and walked and walked through the tranquil roads in Bashundhara, of course with friends. And later on, I walked to the distant bus stand to catch the bus, making sure I had my trusty companion beside me. We made it in time for me to grab a cup of tea and cigarette, and also catch the bus right afterward.

Double Decker bus rides would have been so much more pleasant had there been less people on it, and had Dhaka's cruel and congested roads transformed for a day to be as empty as the paths laid out  in Bashundhara's residential area. The only thing good about the roads are the multicolored lights that pass us. Nonetheless, bus rides are fun when you have someone to talk to, or new things to discover. And today, I discovered this masterpiece.

A Nusrat S. original

I don't know if everyday has something new to teach. Of course we do new things, and end up with an experience... Anyways, I'm beginning to think that those who flaunt happiness, are the ones who make it last longer. I hardly think about happy or sad. Adult feelings seem to go expand beyond that. Nowadays, it's either scared, or mad, or alert, or - my favorite - comfortable. Young adult life doesn't seem to have a happy and a sad. No, the days aren't depressing and I'm not being a drama queen, but time seems to fly by so fast now, without even a flicker, it seems. How can you cherish something without having the time to cherish it?

Rantages.com Vector Logo

Rantages.com is the first site of it's kind in Bangladesh. It was started a few years ago by a young teenager, Rumman R. Kalam. The site has gained quite some popularity among a niche crowd over time, and even I enjoy reading the hilarious articles they have.

Their logo is pretty catchy, too, despite it being just a combination of different fonts. However, all this time, they've only had one copy of the logo, which was a jpeg. When I asked Rumman a few months back why he doesn't change the logo, or at least use the logo effectively, i found out the situation, and it turns out that the guy who created the logo isn't all that reachable, and Rumman doesn't have or know the fonts that were used in creating the logo.

So I decided to redo the jpeg image into a vector. It took some time, but now the logo can be expanded to whatever size is needed without being pixelated, and the colors can be flexibly changed.

The new logo is not an exact replica of the one, rather it has a few minor changes. I wasn't able to vectorise the goat. That required a lot more effort, which if I get the time soon, I will try to make.

Freelancing

This is a freelance work I did a few months back. Thought I should post. I was supposed to create and duplicate icons for a mobile application, as far as I know.

The client was satisfied with the work.

Expectation

Expectation

A short film I made in a hurry so that I would have something to submit to NSU CDC's short film fest. Please excuse the mistakes present in the film. I will do better next time. Thanks to everyone who helped me out. I MEAN IT WITH ALL MY HEART. Because of you all, I was able to complete my first proper short, despite it's flaws. :)

Enjoy.

The Rickshaw Ride

My poem The Rickshaw Ride was much liked by a lot of people. Rushnaf bhai from Blunderware thinks that it's one of my best poems, and it was published in NSU English Club's annual publication, English Matters, earlier this year. Yesterday, it was published on umnotablogger, where Rushnaf bhai's the chief editor, and I'm a contributor.

Anyways, here's the poem:

THE RICKSHAW RIDE

As buildings and tea stalls

and compiled garbage
passed by us, and led to other
buildings and tea stalls
and compiled garbage,
it was clear that the road ahead had many
turns and twists.

It was clear that
if, and only if, we went straight
we'd end up colliding into a building, or a tea stall,
or compiled garbage.

But fortunately for us,
  we know better.
